I am a 52 year old chicken 🐔 when it comes to visiting the dentist due to very bad , painful, and frightening experiences I had as a child and a young adult. So you can imagine my apprehension when I was scheduled to have 3 teeth extracted today. Dr Shufflebarger is a class act and a magician as far as I am concerned. His method for pain relief ( steroids with ibuprofen) made me skeptical but relieved. I am not fond of traditional painkillers. We have now had two children go through Dr. Steve Shufflebarger's office with wisdom teeth removal and other orthodontic work. Both went very well! I love how Dr. Steve leaves fairly large gauze pads connected to floss hanging out of their mouths (for easier removal once you are home). This means they can sleep on the trip home without worrying about them choking! Such a blessing! I have had oral surgeons who left small gauze pads in the mouth. While that certainly wasn't bad, it meant that you had to somehow try to keep your child awake (after anesthesia, no small task!) while you are trying to drive home, AND you had to stop halfway home to change out the gauze. Not so with Dr. Steve's method. :) Also, after my child went back with the nurse, a lady waiting in the office told me that her family loves Dr. Steve. He had done all of her children's wisdom teeth! Original review: Our visit to Dr. Shufflebarger's office was quite satisfactory. The nurses and receptionists were pleasant and very helpful in making sure that I understood what to do and when. They patiently explained the ins and outs of the procedure my son's orthodontist had ordered, and the discharge instructions were well written and easy to understand. Having to have oral surgery can never be described as fun, but this office made it smooth and manageable.

Even one individuals experience can differ from one visit to the next for the same place. Not for this Doctor. I met Dr. Shufflebarger close to 20 years ago now by referral. His office is so modern it makes you feel like aren’t at the dentist, his staff are so friendly and attentive from scheduling to the business manager, Dr. Shufflebarger is so knowledgeable, kind and courteous and down to earth, he makes you feel completely comfortable with whatever procedure you are undergoing big or small. I have referred my brother, husband and daughter’s all ranging from 13 years old to 50. All of us love this Dr. And his office and staff. Even after 20 years this office, its staff and Dr. Shufflebarger are the exact same as they were when I first met them. I have never felt like they were burnt out, tired of their job, tired of people or life. They always make you feel like they are happy you are there. I have never in my life experienced such consistency from any place of business over such a long period of time. I really wish this Dr. Could be our primary dentist. Dr. Shufflebarger performed a surgical procedure to remove four wisdom teeth (one of them was impacted) from our 18 year old son. Our son was very nervous about the procedure and was scared of getting an IV. Dr. Shufflebarger and his entire team listened to my son’s concerns and took great care to make him feel comfortable from the moment he entered the office. After a successful surgery and an IV that didn’t even leave a bruise, I was given instructions on how to best care for him at home. I love how organized this office in. I was able to stay in contact with them throughout my daughter procedure. She has some disabilities and I wasn't sure if they were going to know how to communicate to her what they wanted her to do. They were great. one of the assistants pulled out her phone and distracted her to ease my daughters anxiety during her IV being put in. I would definitely use them in the future. They have some precaution's due to covid and only the patient is allowed in. I was hesitant at first due to my daughter never going to an appointment without me due to her being nonverbal. Dr. Shufflebarger and his team are AMAZING!
My husband was diagnosed with an Ameloblastoma jaw tumor. This is a benign non-cancerous, aggressive tumor that had unknowingly been growing for over a year. By the time we got to Dr. Shufflebarger, the tumor roots had already began to spread through my husbands mouth. We had never heard of anything like this and were extremely concerned.... That's where it ended. This doctor explained the situation and how to best handle it with extreme detail and confidence while also being honest about what we had in front of us. The surgery ended up taking 2 1/2 hours and the staff held our hands from the time of arrival and then with periodic updates throughout the procedure. My husband had the expected pain from such a surgery but no real bleeding and the surgery area where the actual tumor had been removed looked amazing.... his jaw honestly looked like nothing was every wrong with it! The next morning the office called to check on him and offer more advice. Ashley was my point of contact and we able to communicate by text and phone.
Megan was there to guide me through everything the day of his procedure. Thank you ladies so much!

I usually do not like to review doctors, but I am going to make an exception for Dr. Shufflebarger. I have been in the healthcare field for a long time, and I can tell you Dr. Shufflebarger is a knowledgeable and highly skilled surgeon. I have always taken good care of my oral health, but life sometimes life throws you curveballs. I was referred to him by my dentist about 1 year ago. Dr. Steve treated and restored my complex dental case, and anytime I had any issues during the dental implant process, he saw me and took care of me promptly. The staff has always been friendly and respectful. Make no mistake, surgery is complex and requires a highly skilled doctor to do it. We are blessed here in Ohio to have a caring, knowledgeable and talented doctor. And for those that complain that they are not allowed with their loved one's, I have a suggestion: ask if you can wait in the waiting room. But, I know that no hospital or surgery center allows anyone in the surgery room, except the patient and treating staff, as it is not safe for the patient. All a patient wants is to be heard, seen and understood, and this is exactly what I received from Dr. Shufflebarger. I highly recommend him for any type of surgery.
